Comment on Demystifying Technology

Glamorous men and women of past and present prefer to have replica watches. Celebrities of the past like Queen Mary Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Tsar Alexander1, Czarina Alexandra Feodorovna and Winston Churchill. Research into history reveals many were the owners of this great brand. The fame of the designer watches is increasing day by day. Everyone can possess good things; if not the original one can definitely go for the Patek Philippe replica. replica Blancpain are cheap. In the replica Longines field Abraham Lois Breguet stands aloof from others. As a horologist he gained many rewards .The discovery of tourbillion, automatic winding, the perpetual calendar are some of the contributions of the horologist.Breguet Ref. Longines replica are catagonised into The Classic Marine and Type XX Aeronayle. The company supplies limited numbers of omega replica in different traditional models. Each replica Glashutte has a unique identity and the quality control standards are guaranteed .Now the company is in the hands of the replica Tudor Group. Through it was started in 19th century by Abraham Lois –Breguet, the royal tradition is still continuing strictly by the company, so the fame for the brand among the people of refined taste.Thinness is the specialty of the Classic. Standard stuff like chronograph, tourbillion etc. are represented in the replica Bvlgari with quality standards initiated by the founder. The Marine Collection is the remake of the standard supply for the royal French Fleet in 1815. Big waterproof case and a rugged strong body are their special features .The Type XX Aeronayle is used in flights.

Comment on The taonga of radio spectrum: articulating Maori knowledge of wireless interconnectivity

Treaty issues seem to be growing increasingly more complex. There is a risk that in appeasing past wrongs new problems are created.

You say the treat protects Maori rights to treasures, but my reading of it is that it protects Hapu rights (Rangatiratanga) not Maori. How do you reconcile Hapu needs vs Iwi needs. Traditionally Iwi had little influence, but treaty settlements appear Iwi focussed and the radio spectrum settlement deals with “Maori”, a group that has no traditional basis. In addition Pakeha feel excluded from the settlement process.

If these settlements are supposed to be a basis for moving forwards it is vital that all NZers feel involved. While recognising indigenous needs is important, to do so to the detriment of the country serves no one well. The path forward needs to be defined. At present there is such a huge range of beliefs in what “honouring the Treaty” means that I believe it is impossible to reach accord.

I have been making and exhibiting weather driven films, videos and installations since 1968 and have recently been much amused when a granting agency (which must of course remain nameless!) turned down an application for a wind driven digital media work on grounds that I was “just getting on the band wagon”.
Coincidence or not I would be very happy if any of you would like to join me on said band wagon which can be found at http://www.sfu.ca/~welsby I am afraid the site is a little dusty due to lack of funding(!)but there are project descriptions, photo documentation, film clips and writings by myself and others. I will be visiting Auckland as artist in residence and exhibiting three installations including a new work at MIC gallery October 2009

I really enjoyed all the talks – it was great to see such a range of works. and nice to meet those I did. it felt like a good community & it was great to be able to talk about these topics (as other groups I’m in have different conversations). I’m still reading over some of the notes taken during the symposium. some were very inspiring – if only there was more time!

I’d be interested to hear more about the work / ideas during the residency. will the artists be updating this site?

thanks again to all

and I was also wondering what the artists chosen thought – do they think of their work as new media or is it just another label to them?

I have just spoken to Robin Pascoe of Geosystems, and your northern hemisphere units should work no problems here. There may be specific issues such as accuracy (5-15meters for basic units). He would like to know the brand and model of the units you intend bringing, and is keen to meet and assist, even with demo models from their range if necessary.

Regarding tree canopy (Pukekura Park has many trees) this boils down to such factors as the density of branches (pine leads to multi-pathing) and whether the foliage is wet or dry. I figure though, you probably already know this. We may need to focus on clear areas of Pukekura Park.

I’ll put the three of us in touch via email.
